Getting the Most out of your Honeymoon Experience

Now that the wedding planning is over and the rings have been exchanged, it’s time to take off on your honeymoon, a once-in-a-lifetime trip that solidifies your role in the world as a married couple. Wherever your destination, there is a long list of Do’s and Don’ts to get the most out of your honeymoon experience.

  • DO let everyone you meet know that you’ve just tied the knot! Many places will give you the VIP treatment just for being newlyweds. By casually dropping hints about your recent marital bliss, you could enjoy free upgrades, massive discounts and special VIP treatment everywhere you go. DON’T, however, expect anything for free, but be gracious and pleased when you do.
  • DO take lots of pictures to capture all the amazing moments you’ll experience as newlyweds, but DON’T spend all day uploading them to your social networks. There will be plenty of time for that once you return home.

  • DON’T get caught up in trying to do and see everything in one short vacation. You’ll miss out on the one thing that is most important on this trip, spending quality time with the one you love. DO plan a return visit, possibly for future anniversaries, to do everything you didn’t get to this time around.
  • DO tell your hotel in advance that you’ll be honeymooning at their resort. Oftentimes, they’ll make special arrangements so that you and your new spouse will get VIP treatment, in-suite amenities and a slew of ideas for a more romantic experience.
  • DO pack something sexy to wear. This is your honeymoon after all. Start married life off right with a little something to spice up the night.
  • DO opt for a destination you’ll both enjoy, but DON’T choose a place you have already been with someone else. The awkward recall of old memories is better left for another day.
  • DO book a honeymoon suite so that you can enjoy all the special amenities designed especially for romantic rendezvous. The hope is that you spend more time in your suite than anywhere else on your vacation.
  • DO remember that this is your honeymoon, the only one you’ll ever have! Enjoy it to the fullest and make the most of each and every moment by your spouse’s side!
